How to get here

Kaldbaks-Kot is located on the outskirts of Húsavík, an idyllic town in North Iceland. There are several ways to reach us, depending on where you are travelling from. Below you will find the main options by air, car, bus and ferry.

Flying to Akureyri

Akureyri Airport (AEY) is the closest airport to Kaldbaks-Kot.

Icelandair operates year-round domestic flights between Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV) and Akureyri. Seasonal international flights may also be available.

As routes and schedules can change, we recommend checking current flight options directly with the airlines before travelling.

From Akureyri to Kaldbaks-Kot

From Akureyri, you can reach Húsavík by rental car, taxi or Strætó bus route 79.

​

Route 79 connects Akureyri and Húsavík and also serves Akureyri Airport. As timetables vary by season, we recommend checking the current schedule before travelling.

Flying to Keflavík

Keflavík International Airport (KEF) is Iceland’s main international airport.

​

From Keflavík, you can travel north to Húsavík by rental car, public transport, or by taking a domestic flight from Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV) to Akureyri (AEY).

Please note that Keflavík International Airport and Reykjavík Domestic Airport are two different airports, located approximately 50 km apart.

From Keflavík to Kaldbaks-Kot

From Keflavík, the main options for continuing to Kaldbaks-Kot are: 

Sailing to Seyðisfjörður

Travelling by ferry

If you are travelling to Iceland with your own vehicle, Smyril Line operates a ferry service between Hirtshals, Denmark, and Seyðisfjörður in East Iceland.

From Seyðisfjörður, you can drive to Kaldbaks-Kot via Egilsstaðir and North Iceland. If you are travelling without your own car, you can rent one in Egilsstaðir or continue your journey by bus. Public transport routes and schedules may vary seasonally, so we recommend checking current connections before travelling.

From Seyðisfjörður to Kaldbaks-Kot

If you are not travelling with your own car, you can rent one in Egilsstaðir or continue your journey by bus.

Driving to Kaldbaks-Kot

Kaldbaks-Kot is located just south of Húsavík and is easily accessible by car.
