The Geo Sea baths are a perfect combination of sea and geothermal water, with a view almost as fantastic as the one from our cabins ;)
CULTURAL SITES
In Húsavík enjoy the museums and cultural sites. The Maritime Exhibition and the new, Man and Nature – 100 years in Þingeyjarsýslur can be found in the Disctrict Cultural Center. An Art Gallery is located on the top floor and a multipurpose showroom is located on the ground floor.
For a more adventurous experience visit the fantastic Exploration Museum. And be sure to not miss out on Húsavík's most popular attraction, the Húsavík Whale Museum.
BIRD SAFARI
The cottages at Kaldbakur are situated next to Kaldbakstjarnir Lakes, an outfall from the geothermal electricity plant which supplies Husavik with electricity. The cottages sit just above a major nesting area for birds. There is a beautiful bird sanctuary between the cottages and the fjord with walking trails throughout. Many Icelandic bird species can be observed straight from the cottage terraces. Binoculars are to be found in every cottage.
DIAMOND RING ROAD
Here is the webpage for Diamond circle. Kaldbakskot is strategically located by the exceptional Diamond ring road. Many of the most stunning and beautiful places in Iceland are on the route; to mention a few: Ásbyrgi, Hljóðaklettar, Dettifoss, Mývatn, Jarðböðin, Námaskarð Dimmuborgir and Goðafoss.
Here is the first webpage made by the founder of Kaldbaks-Kot.
HORSE RIDING
The first people to settle Iceland brought horses with them from Norway, as well as other domestic animals. The horses, now called Iceland horses, are small and sometimes referred to as ponies. The breed has been isolated in the country for over 1100 years and is therefore considered a unique breed. Just 3 km (2 mi) from Kaldbaks-Kot you can go horseback riding at Saltvík.
